Imaging is the process used by Police and law enforcement agencies in the UK, Europe and around the world to secure computer evidence. Imaging is an evidentially sound method of making a perfect duplicate of computer media and has the advantage of being operating system independent. The case for imaging as the preferred method for capturing computer evidence has developed, in computer terms at least, over a long period of time.

The importance of taking a sound image is fundamental to all subsequent investigation work and cannot be overemphasised. Examination of a computer by the technically inexperienced will almost certainly result in rendering any evidence found inadmissible in a Court of Law.

Friendware has for many years offered a computer evidence bureau service which is used by law enforcement agencies, the military and customers from the commercial sector.

We frequently participate in out-of-hours raids worldwide on suspect premises, using state of the art procedures and equipment to take exact copies of computer storage. 
• Forensic analysis – Friendware Security Solutions has developed a uniquely powerful set of analysis tools. We can detect specific patterns, such as words or sequences of numbers. We have defeated passwords and data compression schemes. The contents of all areas of storage are searched, including deleted, hidden and ‘bad’ data blocks, and we have considerable experience in defeating concealment techniques. Our technology is fast – we employ state-of-the-art Evidential Systems and can provide a 24 hour, 365 day per year service if required. 
• Expert Witness – If your investigation requires presentation in court, you can be confident that evidence we discover will stand examination. All our work is meticulously documented and our procedures are fully auditable. Our normal service includes witness statements prepared in Police standard format and our staff are familiar with court procedures. We also have a legal staff that will assist in case development. We are able to provide ‘expert’ reports to support our investigation work, and will provide independent expert testimony in the form of expert opinion as required.
