Network
Baseline Service
The Network Baseline Service by Friendware Security Solutions offers
your organization a thorough understanding of your enterprise, multi protocol
router network. The service is ideal for assessing the current performance
of your network prior to new application implementations, or network security
implementations for determining whether wide area and other network services
are properly optimized. The service uses a set of diagnostic tools
that systematically measure and report on key network resource metrics.
The measurements are analyzed and reviewed by a network analyst, who will
assess the overall health and bandwidth usage of your network.
The analyst also develops a set of recommendations for fine-tuning
the performance and capacity of your network. The Network Baseline Service
takes approximately five weeks to complete on larger networks and can vary
for small and mid size networks. The process starts by identifying the
network devices ? routers, servers, switches and managed hubs ? to be analyzed
and their IP addresses, along with an inventory of the wide area network
services to be studied. A probe is then installed at your site to collect
network performance data. The probe performs two weeks of continuous monitoring
in order to capture time of day and day of week traffic patterns. After
completing the data collection, the analyst performs an in depth analysis.
Friendware Security Solutions'
Network Baseline analysis includes:
-
Device/Link reliability, availability, utilization, error rates
-
Network equipment resource utilization information, including CPU usage
and buffers
-
Wide area network services utilization, frame relay port/PVC and private
lines
-
Identifying key applications and servers using network resources.
-
Round trip delay / response time
We will provide data that will support efforts to optimize data communications
costs through optimizing network and server resources. The Network Baseline
Service concludes with a summary report that provides a detailed analysis
and report of network status, exception conditions, and a compiled database
of all the collected statistics.
The statistics databases, reports and a graphical viewer are provided
as part of the final report on a CD ROM. Once the report has been completed,
a meeting will be scheduled to present the network analyst's findings.
